James Edgar Owens Jr., affectionately known to his students as “Mr. O,” was a beloved high school teacher and football coach who worked in the New York City School System. After graduating from Tuskegee University, Mr. O dedicated over 25 years of his life to educating and inspiring young minds as a special education math teacher.
James was a gentle giant whose pleasant personality and genuine heart made him the perfect mentor to his students. James possessed a unique ability to connect with students on a personal level. His passion for teaching and coaching ignited a spark in his students, encouraging them to reach their full potential. Simply put, Mr. O had a knack for helping his students believe in the possibilities. His unwavering commitment to his students' success left an enduring legacy.
